Bob's Burgers Vol 1 Review

This collection of the first five issues of the Belcher family’s comic adventures proves to be as odd and endearing as the show. It of course helps that the show’s crew is also on the series.

Review:
Each issue is set up in a fun way that showcases each of the Belchers especially with most of the page time dedicated to the kids’ stories each done in a unique way for each one. Such as starting out with Tina’s ever popular “erotic friend-fiction” that features some of her favorite things like horses, zombies, and Jimmy Jr. We get to see into Tina’s imagination as she’s a hero in settings that are sci-fi, horror, mystical Equestranauts, etc with bits of Bob’s Burgers fun.

Louise’s “Unsolved Mysteries and Curious Curiosities” is pretty self-explanatory as well as very fun as the readers go with Louise (and sometimes rest of the family) in dealing with said mysteries that also get weird and different from what we see on the show.

Then there are Gene’s stories that, very fittingly always follow a rhyming, song-like structure. Along with appearances in their children's comics, Bob and Linda both get a page dedicated to them. For Bob it is his idea sheet for the “Burger of the Day” which can include 80s pop culture references to fortune cookies. Linda has her letters where she writes letters to different companies and people about her ideas such as disco for the dumpster raccoons and a what-if scenario of her family that also makes some callbacks to the unaired pilot of the show.

Overall, if you love the show you’ll love the comic as it successfully channels the cartoon in its art and humor.

Recommendations:
Expect what you'd find on the show in this series, good for YA with maybe some stories good for the preteen crowd.
