Super Pets! Character Encyclopedia Review
Most of the content on this blog will mainly be YA and older but here's a cute fun read for the younger crowd!
"Super-Pets" is a cute little book good for young children who love animals, superheroes, and animal superheroes. As well as an older audience who would also enjoy the cuteness as well a recognize Easter Eggs of animal-themed heroes who not only hail from the comics but also other media, such as Starfire's pet larva Silkie or just brand new ones made for fun. In fact, A lot of pets here are created for the book but many have also been in comics for years like Krypto the Superdog and Ace the Bathound or are not really pets just animal-themed friends such as some of the many Green Lanterns from outer space. The only really down-side I'd give this book is it presented Teen Titan villain Jinx with gray skin from the cartoon instead of her original brown skin from the comics as the character was originally an Indian sorceress.
Recommendations:
Perfect for very young readers and also those learning to read. The drawings are all colorful and cute, even the villains with George the Pufferfish being the best if I do say so myself. Again, one of the fun aspects of this book is it gives little tidbits for the older and more genre savvy readers to pick out without confusing or alienating the kids like yes Superman at one point had all those pets, the Superman nerd can give smile and give the weird bio behind each one while the kids can just smile at the cute pets in capes.
